Education

Whether through school, personal experiences or professional experiences, I learn best in a project-based, hands-on environment.  The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City was the perfect college for me.  I wasn’t interested in fashion, but the degrees I completed provided skills and experiences that went beyond fashion.  Since I graduated in 2014, I have been improving my skills in experience design and digital tools (SketchUp and AutoCAD) through personal projects and professional experiences.

AAS, Photography, cum laude - May 2012

I began my college education with Photography because of my interest during High School.  From Photography I learned composition; how light influences objects, spaces, and people; how to create quality images; and experience with Adobe PhotoShop.

What surprised me was that my favorite style of images to capture were candid shots.  I loved capturing these special moments in time and found the images revealed the character of the people.

These are some of my favorite images.

AAS, Visual Presentation & Exhibition Design, cum laude

May 2014

While in the Photography program, I realized I liked creating the sets for the photo shoots.  On the same floor was the VPED program and I loved what they were learning, so I applied for my second AAS degree.  We created a variety of things including window displays, exhibits, a pop-up store, merchandising displays, and a final exhibit.

From VPED I learned the fundamentals of design, how to work as a team, composition, spacing and layout, basic construction and fabrication, colors/textures/materials, basic model making with foamcore, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, and received an introduction to SketchUp and CAD (Vectorworks).

Minor, Art History - May 2014

At the same time I minored in Art History, exploring and researching art, history and culture in a variety of time periods and locations.  My studies included Ancient to Modern, West African, Native American, and East Asian cultures.  I enjoyed visiting the NYC museums and conducting research.
